taking advantage of forgiveness

taking advantage of forgiveness

IMG_CF1D2F755C85-1Let’s talk about forgiveness. This topic has been on my heart for a while now, and as i was flipping through my bible trying to find a topic to blog about, i came across the perfect verse.

Ephesians 1:7

As Christians i feel like we rely HEAVILY upon forgiveness. our mindset is predictable, when we commit a sin, we send a quick prayer up to God to say sorry, then we go about our day and don’t make any changes to the way we live our lives.

throughout our day we commit minor sins. maybe sometimes you notice them and send a prayer up to say sorry, maybe you notice them and don’t worry about praying, or maybe you don’t even think about it. It just happens, time after time.

no no no. if you think like this, you’ve completely misunderstood God’s word. The only reason we are even capable of receiving God’s grace & forgiveness is because of Christ’s suffering on the cross.

and to think of His death as a “free pass” to Heaven is wishing his death on him again and again.

This might sound harsh. Trust me, i’m guilty of this mindset too. Though it’s never been our intent or goal to hurt God when we sin, that’s what happens.

God is love. Christ is love. they are ALWAYS there for us. but their love alone isn’t what will get us to Heaven. we have to make an effort and we have to choose them repeatedly. Choosing God over sin is one step closer to salvation.

Y’all, the devil tempts like crazy. he doesn’t stop. Every day there will be a new battle to fight or a new sin that seems appealing. however, we can fight the temptation. Just make the effort to.

Never forget the price at which you were bought.
